Nikki Starrett, THE RIDE’s trusty female saxofonista/actress, is involved in two projects being shown in New York this month. Mark your calendars!
First will be a showing of “Signs”, a film directed by award-winning Chinese filmmaker Ke Ke, that Nikki stars in. The film will be screened next week in a night of short films by Chinese directors called “Fly Over the Pacific.” Seven Chinese directors who flew over the Pacific Ocean and are studying in New York show their original works produced by Jackie C. Lin, a producer from JAJ Productions.
Time: Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 7 pm
Location: Anthology Film Archives
Address: 32 Second Avenue, New York, NY, 10003
After the screening will be a Q & A with the directors followed by a cocktail reception.
Nikki will also be performing in an off-off Broadway play called “Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead,” by Burt V. Royal. The play is a hilarious, gut-wrenching look at a beloved American comic strip hero (Charlie Brown, or “C.B.”) as he works through the trials, tribulations, angst, and comedy of high school life.
Synopsis: Dog Sees God centers on high school student C.B. trying to come to terms with the death of his dog. Throughout the course of his grief, he and his friends struggle with issues relating to sexuality, drugs, suicide, and social acceptance.
