Hi, it’s THE RIDE here with a countdown of my top ten favorite things to do in New York City during Spring Break:
- Catch a Broadway show: choose from Phantom, Wicked, Book of Mormon and the rest—I love them all!
- Revel in the warm weather (at last) while exploring Central Park. (Before you go, check out my Central Park sightseeing tips.)
- Enjoy an awesome meal at one of NYC’s recently opened restaurants—I am always excited to try something new!
- Visit the world famous Empire State Building. Yes, the lines can sometimes be long to get to the top of this iconic skyscraper, but the views are well worth the wait. If you really hate the crowds, though, go at night when most of the tourists are gone and all the lights of the city make the sights truly spectacular.
- Ride the Cyclone roller coaster on Coney Island. Oh sure there are bigger roller coasters elsewhere, but I guarantee that this one will still make you scream!
- Eat a bagel with a schmear. Some people say it is the water, some say it is New York know-how, but whatever it is that makes them special, you can’t find bagels this good anywhere else!
- Visit one of NYC’s top museums. I’m especially partial to the American Museum of Natural History, but there are so many great choices you are sure to find one that suits your interests. And if you time things right, you might even get in for free.
- Do some shopping. Retail therapy is always the right thing to do in this town! For the best stores in the city, don’t miss my shopping guide.
- Go to Times Square. Gaze at the neon lights. Pose with the costumed characters. Get a pretzel or hot dog from a street vendor. People watch. Once you’ve experienced it in all its glory, I think you’ll agree that Times Square truly is the “crossroads of the world.”
- Ride THE RIDE and THE TOUR. Yes, my #1 pick is a tie between my two favorite NYC activities! THE RIDE is a show; it’s a sightseeing experience; it’s NYC like you’ve never seen it before! THE TOUR uses the same motor coach with floor-to-ceiling windows and top-of-the-line technology for a more traditional look at NYC’s best sights! ‘Nuf said—just buy a ticket and get on the bus!
