Hey guys, it’s THE RIDE! Being that I’m such an awesome and cool tour bus, I always keep my windows sparkling. I take pride in having them this way so that you can see the amazing shows clearly while experiencing THE RIDE. After the tour, if you’re into windows as much as I am, I certainly recommend visiting the shops on 5th Ave and really taking a good look at the window displays. No visit to the city is complete without seeing these magnificent holiday displays. New York’s window displays are famous and are carefully planned out ahead of time. If they can’t get you jazzed for the holiday season, I’ll give you a ride straight to the Grinch’s abode myself.

This year, the Barney’s holiday windows are pretty spectacular. I’m not saying they can stand up to what a passenger would see through my windows, but they are certainly worth the trip to Madison Ave. Barney’s really went all out this year with the “New York Holiday” theme. They have an interactive scene with Mr. and Mrs. Claus and a floating city! Floating is a concept I’m a little uncomfortable with, as I don’t get off the ground much, or ever. When I was going through my teenage rebellious phase, I didn’t park on the alternate side of the street during sweeping. That was my first encounter with a tow truck. Boy, they are mean. I still remember the feeling of my wheels leaving the ground and the cold metal tow hook on my…here I am getting carried away. Now let’s get back to Barney’s. They also used 3-D mapping and light choreography to make their display stand out. Didn’t I say they went all out?
Take the kids and stroll down 5th Ave to see the window displays for Macy’s, Bergdorf, Lord and Taylor. Now here’s a little street knowledge for you. Each store’s windows have their own theme. It’s a great way to bond with the family to try to figure out what each theme is. Some are blatant, but others are a bit subtler. Every year my friend Frank, the garbage truck, and I roll down 5th Ave and try to figure them out. I can hear it already, “friend’s with a garbage truck?” You’re just like my mother. He has two PhD’s for goodness sake.
