April 3
It is Day 18 for me alone in the lot. I had been excited to journey to Newark on Wednesday to be inspected by the Department of Transportation. I have this check-up for safety with the City and State two times a year. I know, silly to be excited about having a gloved certified inspector fiddling under my hood, kind of like having a people annual check-up, but the warmth of companionship had promise under the circumstances. Sadly, my garage closed up due to Covid-19 and there was nowhere to be inspected on such short notice. I certainly wasn’t about to have my hood opened along the highway!!! New York City has reported over 50,000 Covid-19 cases as of this morning. Staggering and, so, I suppose alone in a parking lot in Brooklyn is the best place for now. Fortunately, Lady Gaga is still parked next to me.
To close on a bright note, however, the Navy ship Comfort arrived into the Harbor on Monday and with her more than 1,000 beds and staff of 1,200, she is bringing hope. God bless us everyone!
