Hey everyone, it’s me, THE RIDE! Ice-skating is something I get to do every winter right here in New York City. Don’t believe me? Go ahead and rent a car between November and March, you’ll see what I’m talking about. I’ve been doing it on the streets for quite some time, but if you’ve never done it before, I recommend going to an actual skating rink. We have quite a few in the city and it will make the perfect activity for you and your family, after you’ve enjoyed riding with me of course. It’s such a wonderful thing to see all of the people skating around during the holiday season, holding hands and laughing. Even if you’re a beginner, I promise that going to one of the city’s ice rinks will be an unforgettable holiday experience.

The most famous skating rink in the world is the one at Rockefeller Center. It’s picturesque and a must if you haven’t experienced the holidays in New York City. Since it is so famous, the wait time can be lengthy. Once you get out on the ice, there’s room for you to spread your wings and soar. Sometimes, I open up my cargo doors and pretend I’m an Olympic figure skater. We can all dream, can’t we?
The rink at Bryant Park is also excellent. A reason for this is because it’s free! They do have rentals for skates just in case you forgot to pack your gear. I used to date the Zamboni from there. She was really nice. We didn’t work out with me being too heavy to go on the ice and her not being street legal, but we ended on good terms. If you see her, say hi for me.
If you want a to try an indoor rink and let the kids run free, head over to Chelsea Piers. This place is great too, even if you’re not a skater because there are plenty of seats. You also don’t have to freeze out in the elements while the rest of your family enjoys themselves on the ice.
The truth is, no matter where you take your family to ice skate, you will always have a good time. During this time of the year, everyone is friendly and filled with holiday cheer. I was serious about the Zamboni. Maybe you could ask her if she misses me, even if it’s just a little.
