TimesSquare.com accepted submissions for their logo redesign contest from amateur and professional artists all year long. Since that the deadline for submissions closed on August 7, they’ve now announced the jury who will judge the logos and select winners, and announced that Charles Fazzino, whose art graces the windows of THE RIDE’s special Fazzino coach, will serve as president of that jury.
Fazzino and the jury will award the winner of the contest, hosted by Design Crowd, with $5,000 and will use the winning design to replace the current logo on the official Times Square website, TimesSquare.com. An additional $5,000 will be divided among other winners when the results are announced on December 12. You can make your own evaluations of the 5,700+ submitted designs here.
Native New Yorker and SVA alum Charles Fazzino is a renowned visual artist who has lent his superb 3D pop art not only to THE RIDE, but to the London 2012 Olympics, the NFL, the Superbowl, the Grammys, JFK, and the Normal Rockwell Museum, to name a few. This jury is well-equipped to judge the contest, because its other members are also prominent figures in art, design, and media: artist Pablo Rodriguez and journalist Arjun Basu.
